Brian Eno Urges Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.
A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.
An Opportunity for Support and an "Chart Upset"
Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to support Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would choose to perish with honor than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The single was laid down after a solidarity show held in late summer. First conceived to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The impressive roster of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the scene. All were part of the September show, which managed to collect a considerable total for relief efforts.
Production and Release
Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The single features a combination of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.
The team running the project have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We don’t have a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Of course, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The reality in the region was noted for its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of property reportedly destroyed or damaged.
“Against that backdrop, a few million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The song is set to be released this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
