Newest Oil Plant Strike Demonstrates 'Absolutely No Safe Areas in the Russian Distant Backlines'

Ukraine's drones have struck the Russian Bashneft processing plant in the city of Ufa, located approximately 1,400 km from the Ukrainian border, resulting in blasts and a fire, per a source in Ukraine's intelligence agency.

This constitutes the latest Ukrainian security service long-range attack in Bashkortostan in the recent weeks. Such strikes show that there are no protected areas in the distant backlines of the Russian Federation.

Zelenskyy Urges US President to Mediate Ceasefire in the Conflict

The Ukrainian leader called on President Trump to mediate a ceasefire in the Ukrainian conflict over a telephone conversation on the weekend.

"Provided that a war can be stopped in a particular zone, then undoubtedly additional conflicts can be stopped as well, encompassing the Russian aggression," he remarked, praising Trump's "remarkable" Middle East peace initiative and urging the President to influence the Moscow into negotiations.

Russian attacks on Ukraine claimed the lives of 5 individuals on Saturday and cut power to areas of Ukraine's southern Odesa area, per Ukrainian officials.

Two civilians died within a place of worship in the town when it was hit, per local authorities.

In Russia's adjacent territory of the Belgorod region, a vehicle operator was fatally wounded by a Ukrainian strike, according to municipal sources.

Electricity Repair Work in the Capital

Operations carried on on the weekend to restore power in the Ukrainian capital, after Russian attacks.

Power had been restored to over 800,000 inhabitants by the weekend and the major power firm announced the main efforts to repair the grid was finished though partial blackouts continued.

Air Defence Efforts and UAV Jamming

The Ukrainian air defences intercepted or jammed 54 out of 78 Russian drones launched targeting the country overnight, the aerial defense command reported on the weekend.

The Russian defence ministry stated it shot down 42 drones over the country's airspace.

Cuba Rejects Allegations of Deploying Forces to Ukraine

Havana on Saturday rejected US assertions it has provided troops to engage in the conflict in Ukraine, while affirming the government "are without precise data about individuals" participating "on their own" or "as part of the armed units of both sides".
